FAQs

Can Physiotherapy help? Physiotherapists treat a wide variety of conditions. At Physio Clinic UK we specialise in injuries or conditions affecting the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and nerves.

Will my private medical insurance cover my treatment? We are recognised by all major insurance companies but you must contact your insurer to find out about the particular details of your personal policy.

Do I need a GP referral?  No, you do not need to be referred by your doctor for treatment. Physiotherapists are autonomous practitioners.  NB: Some health insurance companies require a doctor’s referral.  Please check your private health insurance policy before starting treatment if you intend to claim.

How long are the treatment sessions? Your first appointment lasts up to an hour. This will include a history taking, a thorough physical examination of the problem area and treatment. There is also time for you to ask questions.

How many treatmnets will I need? Everyone's condition differs and the severity and duration of your symptoms will determine how many treatments you require.  This will be discussed with you at your first appointment. In some cases only one or two treatments are required as we provide a home exercise regime and strongly encourage self-management.

What treatments are comonly used? Depending on what your condition requires we use a variety of manual therapies, electrotherapy, acupuncture and exercise/stretches.

What should I wear?  Please wear comfortable clothing as the practitioner will need to examine the injury in detail, taking into account the joint above and below the injured area.

Can I bring someone?  Yes you may bring someone with you.  If you are under the age of 16 you will need to bring an appropriate adult.
